Tonight I made two Artist Trading Cards. The top one (perhaps a work in progress) is Love and the bottom is Longing. I can’t find my watercolours (where are you??) so I used my Prismacolours for the first time since getting them for school in September. I’m not a fan of coloured pencils, but these ones blend nicely. And there are two metallic ones. That’s pretty neat.

i love looking at your blog. i never know what to say though. everything you make is so creative & beautiful. i am very jealous because i know i have it in me, but i have a hard time organizing my thoughts & ideas into art.
you are very talented! :)

wow thank you for the super nice comment!
when i am in a funk or when i’m feeling creative, but i don’t think i can get the idea down exactly, i find that it helps to draw/paint with my eyes closed, or drawing upside down.
all winter, i drew upside down contour (not lifting the pen off of the page) portraits. they’re pretty neat because your brain is working from a whole new direction and the results are often very cool. i like upside down contour drawing because you’re not 100% focused on getting every detail the way you think you want it. instead, you’re left with this amazing image when you turn your page around. it’s really quite satisfying.
i uploaded some drawings from my journal for you : )
thanks again for the nice compliments. you made my day : )
